In this three class series hosted by Tim O’Brien, students will learn hand tool basics, build a wooden mallet and finish by building a stool or table to take home. These courses can be registered for individually or as a full-set. If you are enrolling in the whole series, you still have to add each individual course to your cart. Please ensure that you look over materials needed for each class and that you can attend all course dates / venues.

In this class students will learn about the variety of hand tools used in woodworking as well as maintaining and sharpening the tools. Students will then practice cutting and chiseling on scrap wood to understand the feel and basics of the tools.
Materials: No materials needed, however feel free to bring any hand tools you may already have.

The mallet is at the heart of many crafts, especially when working with wood and softer stones. In this class you will select from some wood options (or you can bring your own material) and turn it into a custom mallet which you can take home for personal projects or bring back to use in our Furniture Making or Stone Relief Carving Classes! No woodworking experience is needed and all materials and tools will be provided.
Materials: All materials and tools will be provided through the material fee. Students are welcome to bring any wood for the project and tools / ppe.

In this class students will take their skills, knowledge, and mallet from the previous of these series and build a rustic stool or table using hand tools and simple joinery techniques. Students will provided group and individual instruction as they construct their furniture piece.
